The Greenhouse Program operating hours are from 11:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. The daily rate is $25.00 per day which will include a light lunch. If payment is made for the entire month (the first day of each month), a discounted rate of $23.00 per day is available.
Due to limited availability, participants are required to commit to specific days of attendance to enable us to have adequate staffing and supplies. Our staffing is based on how many participants have committed to certain days. Therefore, if your participant does not attend on a day they are committed to, he/she will still be charged for that day anyway.
The only exception to this is in the case of a "family" vacation. If Ex. Director is notified before the month of said vacation, the amount of days participant attends in a wekk can be deducted from montly payment. Days missed in addition to that will still have to be paid for.
We do not carry balances from one month to the next.
A fee will be charged for any student who is picked up past 5:10pm. ($10.00 fee from 5:11-5:30, $20.00 from 5:31-5:50, $30.00 after 5:50)
We try to involve our participants in making shopping lists each week as well as making their own lunches each day. We hope by doing this, it will help them feel more self-sufficient and independent.
We also need each child get a SL County Library card that they can have with them or keep at the Greenhouse.
About our participants
The participants at the Murray Greenhouse range from wheelchair bound individuals, requiring assistance in most tasks, all the way to very high functioning individuals who require very little assistance. Each participant is expected to follow simple directions and participate as a group with activities, projects and cleaning assignments. They also are expected to show respect to the other participants and counselors at the Greenhouse.
Participants are accepted based on availability and compatibility with existing students/staff as well as ability to help achieve the Murray Greenhouse Mission Statement. MGF reserves the right to deny a new participant that does not mee the criteria necessary. The Greenhouse does not have sufficient staff to offer one on one care or the ability to deal with severe behavior problems. The students enjoy a Counselor to Student Ratio of 7 to 1.
